Skill evaluation is relatively subjective, but feel free to use the scale below as a guide when determining which score to give any particular skill.

0

0 (or not applicable): Use a score of zero to indicate that a volunteer has no familiarity/comfortability with a task. This includes if a volunteer has performed the same or similar tasks at another wildlife rehabilitation center, animal hospital, or in another setting. You should also select zero if a volunteer is physically unable to perform a particular task, or if the task is not applicable to that volunteer for another reason.

Use a score of one if a volunteer has seen a task performed by a staff member or another volunteer, but has not performed the task themself. A score of one may also indicate extremely basic familiarity/comfortability with a task.

Use a score of two if a volunteer has performed a task one to three times under supervision. A score of two may also indicate mild familiarity/comfortability with a task.

Use a score of three if a volunteer has performed a task more than three times under supervision. A score of three may also indicate average familiarity/comfortability with a task.

Use a score of four if a volunteer is able to perform a task independently. A score of four may also indicate advanced familiarity/comfortability with a task.

Use a score of five if a volunteer has very advanced familiarity/comfortability with a task—to the point where the volunteer would be able to teach the task to another volunteer if requested by a technician.
